Following the general election last week, the government has appointed a new Police and Fire Minister. Nick Hurd MP replaces Brandon Lewis MP.

We look forward to meeting the new minister in the coming weeks and hope that this appointment will provide some much needed stability in the department as Mr Hurd will be the fifth minister responsible for Fire in seven years.
