Recognition for ALL Grey Book staff in Lancashire

We are pleased to announce that the FRSA has been granted full collective bargaining rights for ALL GREY BOOK staff in Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service. This follows a similar agreement in Cumbria which was awarded in late 2020 and reflects the fact that our membership is open to ALL Grey Book staff in the UK.

This compliments our agreements that are already in place across the UK which relate specifically to On-Call firefighters and acknowledges the fact that Wholetime, Part-time, Control and Support staff feel that they need an alternative voice that is more reflective of their values and views on how a trade union should represent their membership.

It does also require a Fire Authority and Senior Leadership Team that understand and value the benefits of a diverse and inclusive industrial relations environment, something that we hope will become more commonplace in the near future.

Arrangements are already underway in Lancashire to form a local committee, raise awareness of the benefits of membership and most importantly, listen to the view of members. There are some very exciting opportunities on the horizon in the service which we intend to help shape so firefighter engagement will be our priority.

Fire and Rescue Service Long Service and Good Conduct Medal Royal Warrant

We are pleased to announce the introduction of a 30-year and 40-year award and medal clasp for Good Conduct. Those eligible for the Award, and for the Clasps, are full-time and part-time members of all ranks or roles in UK Fire and Rescue Services.

We are grateful to Richard Fuller MP (North-East Bedfordshire) and Caroline Broadbent for their assistance and determination in making this long service recognition a reality.

Further details of the awards can be found here.
