The current dispute over pensions has highlighted the inadequacies as to how fitness standards have been implemented and managed at a local level, something the RFU has been raising for a number of years. In an effort to find a fix to this problem DCLG, through the Chief Fire and Resuce Adviser (CFRA) issued a consultation paper last month asking stakeholders for the views on certain specifics concerning fitness standards and how capability is managed.
The consultation process ended last week (06 December) and below is our response.
